Thailand Aims To Become 4th Largest Producer Of Electronic Circuits
Manufacturing Asia noted Thailand holds a 4% market share in electronic circuits. However, it has bigger ambitions beyond the automotive sector.
To meet the labour needs of this industry, the Thai Printed Circuit Association (THPCA) President Pithan Ongkosit announced plans to set up a national Electronics Circuit Centre. The global printed circuit board (PCB) market is projected to reach approximately US$86.17 billion by 2026, with an average annual growth rate of 3.3%.
High-Density Interconnect (HDI) PCBs, known for their compact size, efficiency, and lightweight design, are expected to grow at an 11.1% rate. Flexible PCBs are also in demand for wearable technology and smart devices, with the market expected to reach around US$15.29 billion by 2026.
To strengthen the industry, THPCA is collaborating with the Thai Microelectronics Centre (TMEC) to establish the Thailand Electronics Circuit Centre (TECC). This centre will focus on research and development, enhancing the local supply chain, producing PCB prototypes, and continuously developing personnel and electronic products in the country.
These efforts are aimed at fostering the growth and sustainability of Thailand’s electronics industry. Thailand’s infrastructure, skilled workforce and strong supply chains have made it an attractive destination for global investors, particularly in the electronics and PCB industries.
The electrical appliances and electronics industry rank first amongst export goods and accounts for a quarter of total exports in Thailand. With significant investments in the sector, Thailand is poised to become a key player in the global electronics circuit market. This platform aims to showcase Thailand’s potential as the hub for electronics circuit manufacturing in ASEAN and globally.
