Thai motorcycle exports surge 157% in October to 6.5 billion baht

In October, motorcycle exports, including both completely knocked down (CKD) and completely built-up (CBU) units, experienced a substantial surge of 157% compared to the previous year, reaching 175,066 units. This marks a significant increase from the 68,136 units exported in the same month last year. The export value also rose, climbing 16.6% year-on-year to 6.5 billion baht, up from 6 billion baht in October of the previous year.

Despite this impressive growth in October, the overall performance for the first ten months of the year reflects a different story. Total motorcycle exports declined by 15.8%, amounting to 776,362 units. The Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) did not specify the reasons for this decline. However, it aligns with a similar trend observed in the first seven months of 2024, where export volumes dropped by 10.1% year-on-year to 473,075 units.
